6.18.25 - Much has occured since my last post - the headline Liberty Walks news is that we are in the process of procuring our SAG wagon (the RV which will provide support to walkers along the way), and we are in talks with several people who are interested in driving said SAG wagon for us! We have been on the search for a driver for quite some time now, and to have a few people step forward and express real interest is quite wonderful news. Our ideal would be to have someone sign on for the entire journey... someone who can support Esther and the rest of the walkers as they move from place to place, and who becomes a fully fledged member of the Liberty Walks team. All my fingers and toes are crossed that we are honing in on finding this great match for the walk. Everything about this endeavor has fallen into place in the right time, in the right way, so I imagine that finding the driver will be no different... there is a level of trust in this process - maybe call it faith - that has been neccessary as we move along. So far, that faith has served us well!
The board continues to meet regularly, rain or shine, in sickness and in health, to discuss matters great and small regarding Liberty Walks. Our main focus now is in getting the website moved over to a more streamlined platform, getting the RV and driver squared away, and putting together a safety training for all registered walkers that will become part of our on-boarding process. Reminder: to be a part of the walk, you need to register for the walk - this will ensure support from the SAG wagon, and gives us a level of assurance that you know what you're signing on for!
In personal news, I just returned from a trip to Philadelphia, PA, and Allentown, where my youngest played Ultimate Frisbee in the national championship - their team came in second in the nation! I am one very proud parent. Philly Cheesesteaks were consumed, and the Liberty Bell was spied, along with Benjamin Franklin's original printing house and postal office. This legacy is why I am walking... the intelligence, grit, foresight, savvy, and determination of our forebears who realized that a nation where there is freedom of religion, freedom of press, and freedom of speech is a nation that is made stronger by its differences. Keep on keepin' on - we're a little over two weeks away from launch!

Kate.
